Houston: Day Two

As I mentioned in the previous post, I have tons of pictures so there will definitely be more pictures than words ( picture speaks a thousand words, after all) and there will also be many parts of my holiday in America on this blog ;)
Soo on our second day in Houston, we woke up bright and early and spent most of the morning helping my aunt set up Christmas decorations all around the house.

All decked out

Who's the christmas tree now??

Even tied ribbons to the branches outside the house
The spirit of Christmas is really strong in America and most of the houses in the same street as my aunt's also had various christmas decorations, which were all so beautiful <3

An example of a decoration ornament used.

Following that, we drove to Chinatown which was about 20 mins away to meet my uncle for lunch :)
And of course, in Chinatown we ate chinese food
Chinese teaaa

The rice was served in a huge barrel

Beef dish. Yummy tender meat but it was abit too oily :/

No idea what's up with this picture but it's fried squid.

Fried fish

Beef horfun

simple vegetable dish which was oily too.

Yay Jellyfish! Too much sesame oil drizzled on it though but it's refreshing :)

After lunch we hopped over to a bubble tea store ( America has every food one can ask for!) located in the area which was quite popular
Look at the amount of ingredients!

We ordered milk tea with herbal jelly, which was quite authentic and they were super generous with the pearls ( like every mouth you take you drink in a few pearls)

As well as a pineapple mango ice blend with almond jelly. This was my fav ( but of course, i picked it out ;) ) So refreshing and the almond jelly was so smooth and silky it was DA BOMB. If only they sold this concoction in Singapore ):

Cute bunny rabbit we met on the way to the asian supermarket outside one of the cafes.

At the chinese supermarket we got some ingredients for that night's dinner. The supermarket was huge and very comprehensive, and it had all the asian food one could ask for ( such as vietnamese, japanese, korean, malaysian etc) and the prices were very reasonable. They even sold frozen durian!!
Needless to say, dinner that night was homecooked chinese food <3
Top: Sauted mushrooms
Bottom: youtiao! The supermart even sold them, but they were the frozen sort and honestly tasted quite gross ):

They were to be eaten with this bak kut teh :)

A random dish of salmon

Steamed buns!!<3 Supposed to wrap with the vinegar pork dish which is not pictured here.

Well that was pretty much what we did for the 2nd day, which was supposed to be a relaxed 'rest day' as we had to wake up very early the next day to catch the 7.30am flight to Orlando, Florida
Pretty christmas tree at night!! Result of our efforts during the day
