Taiwan Day 5: Linmeishi, Hot Springs at Jiaoxi

Today... Was an unexpectedly eventful day, to say the least. Woke up at 7+ am to go cycling at the nearby park with Daddy!
Morning scene. Thank god for the great weather after all that raining the night before!
Paranoma
Beautiful sights while cycling

We cycled beyond the park (or was it still part of the park?) To the path beyond which was nearer to the mountains
(My attempt to take a photo while on the bike...shhhhhh)
I'm on top of the world!!!

Why Singapore no rolling hills and mountains and scenic lakes :( came back at around 8+ am in anticipation of breakfast, which was served when we went down promptly at around 9 by the wonderful hosts.
I was expecting breakfast to be a more western style of scrambled eggs, bacon and the like but this couldn't be any more  Asian! ( or Taiwanese for that matter). Porridge served with various side dishes (anchovies, cured duck, stir fried cabbage and an egg roll thingy served in a sweet sauce which I thought was absolutely amazing!!)
Toasted bread with your choice of spreads (ranging from butter to Nutella to peanut butter, all probably homemade)
There was even a healthy drink made from 13 different ingredients!
What a yummy, healthy and satisfying breakfast :)

And tantalising fruit bowls for dessert! With cubes of red dragon fruit, guava and apple drenched in a sweet yogurt sauce and garnished with a sprig of mint.
After that we got a ride from the owner to Luodong train station where we booked the train to Jiaoxi station.
Tomato plum juice we got while waiting. Yummy.
Cute dog of the day with different coloured eyes!!
And also got fresh Portuguese egg tarts from the Eggtart workshop with its enormous signage.

Egg tarts in the train!
These were pretty small, about bite sized (if you have a huge mouth)
Best enjoyed with a cup of buy-one get one free coffee from 7eleven. Kidding. There were 8 in a box so we ate 2 each! The pastry was crispy and flaky (not to mention very greasy) and the egg custard was smooth and not too sweet. Yumms.
We reached Jiaoxi station in 20 minutes and started walking to the hot springs (or so I thought....)
En route we spotted a fish spa!!! Always wanted to try one of these things

The initial feeling of the minute mouths nibbling away at your dead skin felt really ticklish and I couldn't help but giggle!! But we got used to it eventually and it was pretty hilarious how daddy always attracted the most number of fish.
Tomatoes some lady was selling at the spa!
Tomatoes with prickly butts. They were so sweet and juicy :)
Then we started our walk to the hot spring at linmeishi ( or so I thought!!) Dad stopped a guy to ask for the distance to LMS and he said 3 km which didn't seem to long so we decided to walk. Big mistake -.-
Paranoma en route.
3 km turned out to be more like 10 km!!! We spent 1.5 hr walking up the winding mountain alongside the road where we were gawked at by the disbelieving car drivers making their way up and down the mountain ( I think) And also I found out we weren't walking to a hot spring. We were walking to another nature trail for MORE walking. Grrrrrrr. ( no more pics from this point onwards because I was too annoyed)
FINALLY we reached LMS trail where we saw a store selling tomatoes of different shapes and sizes. Bought oranges and some tomato stuff.
Since we came so far, decided to walk a little into the trail.

We walked to the nearby waterfall!

ZEN
We then took the 4 pm bus back down the mountain ( and it only took the bus less than 10 min to cover the distance we did in 90. Pfffft)
Having not had a proper lunch, our stomachs were in need of some subsistence so 7eleven it was!
Finally got to try this array of stuff that is present at all the 7eleven stores here!
Mala flavoured with pigs blood cake, egg, tofu and pigs blood jelly.
Papaya milk at the side
We then made our way to the REAL hot spring.
We had to wear swimming costumes into the spa area.
Female dressing rooms
It was such an eye opening experience!! There were many different pools of varying temperatures (hot ones are 39-43 degrees Celsius while the cold is 24) and different 'flavours' as well! Such as mint, rose, charcoal, lavender, and milk. Which really smelt like milk!!! It was really very hot initially but once one got used to the temperature it became warm and comfortable. A unique experience that I certainly enjoyed :)

After all the soaking, we headed back to Luodong for the night market once again!
Stopped by a kiam kiam store to buy some kiam kiam to eat w our tomatoes.
Tomato plus plum= awesomez.
Next we delved into the night market life once again!!

Mom wanted to try this
Meat wrapped vegetable???

Fried sea bass and wasabi
Unpictured popiah once again!! And unpictured corn heh.

Mom wanted to try a proper hugeass fried chicken
And so after long queue she did!!! This was bigger than my head and fried to crispy perfection and then sprinkled with a seasoning of choice (we got plum powder)
I only took about 3 bites cos I'm healthy :) but what I ate I certainly liked. It didn't even taste like fried chicken and the chicken itself was so tender and juicy! Sigh if fried chicken was healthy I might have eaten half the thing but dream on :(
FINISHED
stopped by a stall for some soups
Pigs liver
Oyster ( found a long hair in mine!!! I have got to stop finding gross stuff in my food :( )
Some freshwater fish that was real tasty.
Oyster egg bun that we wanted to try since yesterday!

Thin skin, stuffed with chives and vermicelli, an egg and of course oyster.
And coz daddy wanted to end his day on a sweet note....
This happened again. I realised the balls are some icy milk thingy which are dang good!!!
PS I'm slightly hungry now. My stomach must have expanded.
Tomorrow: Tai Ping Shan. Here's to burning more calories so I can eat more!!!
