Taipei day 12: almost pointless blog post about the last few hours in Taipei

Blogging from the airport now, waiting for boarding. The end is here!!!! *dramatic tone* although it's quite pointless, I'm just gonna blog about the last few hours in Taipei.
Woke up at 8+ and left the hotel to hunt for breakfast (haha we sound like hunters) at close to 10am.
The bustling morning life
Stumbled upon this shop selling rice rolls so dad bought one!

And we saw this tantalising display of breakfast foods right outside the stall where we had dessert #2 yesterday so we decided to go in and have a seat here :)
Fishball/ porkball soup
4 warm doujiang; not too sweet and obviously homemade
A kind of pancake much like the less flavourful version of prata wrapped with fried dough, vegetables and mayo. It wasn't very hot so it didn't taste as good as it had the potential to be (does that make sense....)
Some turnip bun. It too, wasn't hot and quite lack of taste to be honest.
At least this egg pancake (different from danbing, this one tasted almost exactly like egg prata!) was served piping hot. I think that made it the tastiest out of the 3 :)
And finally we ate our rice roll too! It was tasty but not as nice as yesterday's. I think the rice is too hard???
Passed by this vegetarian store and look at the wide spread of colourful veggies!!! The wraps look full to bursting with vegetables ahhhhh.
Hmmmm you will not believe how hard it took to take this simple shot-.- #cmimodel

And dad bought some lemon tea from a stall which we drank back in the hotel! Really refreshing. Taiwanese got their teas right *thumbs up*
And a couple of breads from Gakuden bakery, a Japanese bakery located at the basement of Taipei main station and which we always pass by on the way to our hotel. I've been wanting to try it so finally we did!! There weren't a wide variety of breads though as most breads weren't done baking :(
The unassuming simple looking bread on the right is a cheese filled bread that is apparently the no. 1 best selling bread of the store. Mom and I were quite skeptical as it looked so plain and pitiful compared to the rest of the more...elaborate breads the stall had to offer. Nonetheless there must be a reason why it was the best seller, so we got it.
Such a mistake! Sure, it was ultra cheesy, with 2 types of cheese stuffed in the middle (American and cream cheese perhaps???) but I'm not a cheese fan so it tasted really boring and lacklustre :(
And the bread on the left: sweet potato bun! I'd wanted to try it since the first time i set eyes on it. It was gooood!!! Chewy bread encasing generous amounts of authentic sweet potato filling. I enjoyed it more than the no. 1 -.-
Went back to the hotel, rested a while before finally leaving the hotel to go to the bus station.
In the end, however, we ended up not taking the bus and sat on a hotel-loaned Mercedes to the airport for the same price due to an adamant old man insisting that we sat in the car (and it was funny how we were so mistrustful of him and stuff) but in the end we reached the airport safe and sound so all's well :-)
As we learnt in Bangkok, airport souvenir shops= tons of free samples so I went on a self-guided food sample tour of all the souvenir shops in the airport! Hahahaha #fatpig
I ate various samples of mochi, pineapple tarts, pastries all free of charge!!! #kiasusingaporean #cheapskate97
Dad wanted to use up the remainder of the Taiwanese money so we headed to te convenience stall to grab some last min good ole Taiwanese drinks.
Coffee, yoghurt drink, and papaya milk.
The yoghurt drink was really like liquid yoghurt! No sugar added.
I'm gonna miss you, Taiwanese convenience stores :'(
Oh and a cup of Oden! Fishcakes, pigs blood and we got a complementary packet of veggies (^ there's the lady helping us heat up and put in the veggies)
How cool is microwaveable veggies???! Singapore ain't got no cool stuff like this sobs :(
After a few more bites of stuff here and there, I wandered around the airport somemore
And found this dressing room! Heh
And so at the end of the day, all we are left with is 40元. Not bad for an 11 day trip eh.
Ok on the airplane now!!! Here's to four plus more dreary hours watching boring movies/ eating/ sleeping/ butt expanding (cos oversitting tends to do that to you) . Thank God for a great trip!!! :-)
/healthy time starts tomorrow whoopie/
